Overview
The 15-credit professional communication minor provides an opportunity for students to develop their professional communication skills and to give students an edge in the job market where effective communication skills are key to success. This minor meets the needs of students who want to further develop their professional communication skills to stand out from other graduates. Employers overwhelmingly note that new employees need additional communication skills in order to succeed across organizational contexts, including the ability to communicate their subject matter expertise with expert and nonexpert audiences. The interdisciplinary Professional Communication minor gives students the communication skills necessary to compete in today’s workforce.
Minor requirements
For the Professional Communication Undergraduate Minor, students will take an introductory professional communication course, a speech communication course, an advanced communication course, an additional communication studies course, and complete three-credits of internship in their primary major or through English or Communication Studies.

The Professional Communication Undergraduate Minor is an LAS Minor. In addition to University polices governing minors, LAS minors require at least 6 credits in courses numbered 3000 and above, with a grade of C or higher.
