User Experience Design Minor

The Minor in User Experience Design (UxD) offers students a comprehensive exploration of and proficiency in user-centered design principles to enhance each student’s major areas. User Experience Design (UxD) is centered around the core principles and methodologies that ensure the creation of intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable user interactions with digital products, websites, applications, and other interfaces.

The Minor in User Experience Design adopts a multidisciplinary approach that complements a wide array of majors, including but not limited to majors that related to technologies and interaction including architecture, graphic design, GIS, industrial design, visual arts, and communication. This program equips students with highly-demand skills across industries such as web design, app development, digital fabrication, interface, and interaction design, and more. Graduates of this minor program will emerge well-prepared to contribute significantly with an understanding of user-friendly and impactful digital products and services within the contemporary, technology-driven landscape, and their primary areas.

Undergraduate students can declare for the UxD minor using the Minor Declaration form, with enrollment not exceeding more than 20 students for each required studio by a first-come first serve process.

Minor in User Experience Design

Undergraduate students at ISU can enroll in the UxD minor using the Minor Declaration form. The selection process will be done by a first-come first-serve basis, with enrollment not exceeding more than 20 students for each required studio by a first-come first-serve process.

The minor will be offered through the Graphic Design department, in the College of Design.

The UxD minor requires 15 credits, 9 required credits and 6 elective credits offered throughout seven departments to provide students with enough flexibility to allow substitutions based on individual needs. All required and many elective courses are offered annually.
